Barcelona and Messi set a new record in the uefa champions league

Messi netted another treble on Tuesday to lead his team to their biggest ever win in the Champions League against Celtic.

Lionel Messi's hat-trick against Celtic on Tuesday night was his sixth in the Champions League (more than any other player in the history of the competition).

Barcelona star Messi had been tied with Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo on five hat-tricks going into the match against Brendan Rodgers' side at Camp Nou.

His treble in the 7-0 thrashing gives him the outright lead in fewer appearances than Ronaldo, who has played 133 games to his 107.

The victory over Celtic was Barcelona's biggest win in their Champions League and European Cup history and the first time the Scottish side have conceded seven in a continental game.

Just when some people thought Messi is gradually diminishing in form,he came up with an outstanding performance against Celtic and set a new record for himself and his club.
